Llanelli athletes younger and older found national medal success in both the Senior and U18 Championships in Cardiff and at the Welsh Masters Championships in Yate. Chief among the weekend’s exploits were those of Darcy Coslett. Having run a big season’s best in the heats of the 400m, she went on to run 53.93 – a new age group national record – in the final, winning Welsh Gold and placing second overall. This performance and result have also led to Darcy being selected to represent Team GB for the first time and will be travelling to Italy later this month to represent Great Britain in the European U18 Championships, both individually and in the relay. Mari Wilson, competing for the first time in almost 2 months, jumped a brilliant PB of 1.56m to win bronze in the U18 high jump. Over in Yate, 3 Llanelli athletes were in champion form. Donna Willock, recently promoted to the Masters, won 3 Golds in the V35 category (Long Jump, Triple Jump and 200m). Club coach Jonathan Williams won Gold in the 400m with an excellent performance, despite despite picking up an injury towards the end of the race, while fellow V40 athlete

Karen Huggins’ brilliant season’s best in the 800m earned her a Gold medal and led to her first selection to represent the Welsh Masters later in the summer.
