Llanelli athletes headed to Neath last Saturday for the final Youth Development League meet of the season. The Under 16 boys were out in force, with Dylan Hopkins taking victory in the 300m and 800m A races. Harrison Sheehan, Carter Griffiths, Bryn Lawlor, Maks Jania and Ellis Davies were also in action across multiple events, gaining valuable points. With Ellis, Dylan, Harrison and Bryn finishing second in the 4×100 relay, the club secured second place in the U16 boys’ standings. There was also a strong showing from the Under 16 girls, earning 5th in the standings. Having all earlier competed in individual events, Pauline De Vera – who won the long jump – Ffion Ryan, Violet Neal and Tiah Sellick ran a brilliant relay. Slick changeovers led to a fantastic performance, with the girls finishing second. Under 14 athletes Mayah Adejuwon, Rosie Robbins, Aiden Vink and newcomer William Harrison competed across a number of events, gaining valuable experience and producing excellent performances. Meanwhile, Darcy Coslett took her place on the 400m start line at the European U18 Championships in the Italian city of Rieti, having qualified with a brilliant performance at the Welsh Championships at the end of June. After winning her heat on Thursday evening, Darcy placed 3rd in the third semi final, just missing out on a place in the final. With the 4×400 relay still to come, Darcy will be part of a strong British team hoping to bring home medals.
