On a wet Sunday morning, 3 of our senior members, Rachel Evans, Donna Fernandez and Ssylwia Lichon (picture 1), took part in a local 10k, the Gorseinon 10k. Having been resurrected 3 years ago, the race is now organised by a local charity, Morgan’s Army. Proceeds from this year’s event were shared between Morgan’s Army and Tŷ Hafan.
This was the first race in the club’s Senior Club Championship for the 2026 / 2027 season. The race is run on roads and a cycle path, with a number of hills, including 2 in the last 2km.
As the rain eased before the start, runners hoped for a dry race, but the start was delayed, and they got soaked by hailstones while waiting. On the hilly course, Sylwia was the first from the club home in a time of 54:23, followed by Donna in 58:03 and Rachel on her return from injury in 1:03:54 (over 5 minutes slower than last year).
For Sylwia, this was a family day out as 3 of her boys (including Maksymilian, who’s a junior member of the club) took part in the 2k family fun run (picture 2).
As per club tradition, the girls wore their race t-shirts to the club Monday evening run the following evening (picture 3).
