14th & 15th June 2025

A record breaking Welsh Track and Field Championships enjoyed large crowds, and saw over 600 athletes competing across U13 – U20 age groups, at Swansea University Track over the weekend.

Llanelli was well represented by 22 athletes, with championship and personal bests being broken.

One of the many highlights of the weekend was Llanelli’s own Darcy Coslett, who broke the championship record and claimed gold with a time of 54.62, in a high quality 400m, over a second faster than the previous championship record time , set back in 1996. Darcy said “I was really happy to take the win and do what I came here to do.” Going on to say; “There are some amazing athletes who have come through the Welsh champs, so it meant a lot for me to get it.” Darcy (16 years of age) was competing against U20 athletes so it was an outstanding acheivement. Darcy also won Silver in the U20 200m with a time of 24.65, once again competing in an under 20 race.

Also, winning gold in style and new Welsh U20 100m champion, Joseph Franklin, raced superbly with a time of 11.08. Joseph also was narrowly beaten in the 200m U20 final, gaining silver medal, with a time of 22.49.

Also in the medals, we saw newcomer to Llanelli Athletics, Erin Thomas, winning bronze in the Long jump with a jump of 3.95m, and Bronze in the 75m Hurdles in 12.72.

Congratulations to the all our athletes who produced outstanding performances too numerous to mention, results below.

1st June 2025 – YDL Lower Fixture 2- Hereford

A long way to travel for athletes and parents, in the second fixture in the YDL Lower age category in Hereford. There were some outstanding performances in the sprints and throws. Once again, the competition was of a very high standard and every point was hard won. Our athletes rose to the occasion, dealing with some tough opposition. They show an incredible team spirit and a willingness to go that extra mile for each other.

It was a blustery day but did not deter from the spirit. 12 PB’s were broken despite the conditions, and put us in good stead for the final fixture back at Aberdare on 21st June 2025.

18th may 2025 – west wales junior league fixture

Llanelli junior athletes travelled to Brecon for the first fixture in the West Wales Junior League. The league provides a great opportunity for athletes to compete particularly the U11 age group, incorporating relays.

This is a chance for athletes to have some fun but also offers a great opportunity for competition with athletes contributing to team points for the Llanelli Team. The day did not disappoint with 14 athletes representing Llanelli Athletics. We saw some excellent results and PB’s being achieved by many of our athletes, it was an excellent day and a great precursor for the next fixture on 7th June in Swansea.
